Top beaches to visit in the Gower:
The Gower is full of beautiful beaches, lovely walks and amazing site seeing opportunities which are perfect to enjoy this Spring/ Summer. Here are a couple of the most popular beaches to visit;
Oxwich bay is a beautiful sandy beach perfect for families and watersport lovers! During the summer months, many swimming and watersport enthusiasts visit the bay to take a break and enjoy the waves. There are also many footpath walks available around the bay to appreciate whilst taking in the picturesque views. The bay includes parking, shops with food facilities and toilets.
Three Cliffs Bay:
Three Cliffs Bay is another popular Gower beach with picturesque views for all to enjoy! This beach includes three limestone cliffs, sandy dunes and salt marshes. This beach is not recommended for swimming or watersports but instead is great for picnics and footpath walks. Dog walking is welcome on this beach during the summer months meaning the whole family can enjoy the beach together. Toilets and parking are available on this beach.
This is one of the Gowers blue flag, award winning beaches perfect for family adventures and watersport lovers. This bay is beautiful and a must visit beach! There is lifeguard patrol during May to September, however dogs are not allowed on this beach during these months. Again, like the other beaches, if you love walking there are plenty of footpaths to enjoy with amazing views. Parking, shops and toilets are also available on this beach.
Welsh National Airshow show 2017:
Love aircraft displays or anything vintage? Then the Welsh National Airshow is a must visit! During the 1st and 2nd July 2017 the skies of Swansea bay will be filled with breathtaking aerobatic views and vintage planes. This weekend is great for families to enjoy and is very popular with visitors each year.
The Big Cheese Festival:
The Big Cheese Festival is a massive annual festival held at one of Europe’s largest Castles in the town of Caerphilly. The event includes; street entertainers, living history encampments, music, dance, traditional funfair, folk dancing, fire eating and much more. The event is held on the weekend of 29th- 30th July 2017 and is free to attend. The event attracts over 80,000 people annually and is a perfect family weekend for everyone to enjoy.
The Gower Show- Centennial 2017:
This year is the 100th Annual Gower show with new attractions and displays for visitors to enjoy. The show is held on 6th August 2017 9am- 6pm and is great family day out. The show includes a local farmer get together where they display their finest cattle, sheep, pigs and piglets. Marques are also dotted around the show which include artistic flower arranging, cookery and home baking. There is also a full range of children’s classes in the marque areas to create a hands-on experience for them to explore. However, the most popular event is the horse shows which run throughout the day for everyone to watch and love. The show is held in the beautiful grounds of Penrice Castle Park, Reynoldston.
