Recommended Dog friendly Beaches
Not all beaches are dog-friendly in Gower, here we list our top picks to walk your pal
There are several locations across Gower that aren’t suitable for our dog pals. Here are our recommendations on the best beaches to take your dog for a beautiful walk.
Rhossili Bay beach
3 miles of sand and coastline
Having been voted Britain’s best beach for two years, where better to start?
A beautiful, untouched beach Rhossili Bay features cliffs, a steep walk down to the beach and the iconic Worm’s Head tidal island. Whilst walking the wonderful coastline you’ll witness a number of water sports, visitors walking the Gower coastal path and historic shipwrecks.
Mewslade Bay beach
A small, secluded, cosy beach
This small, snug little beach is less suitable for water sports and families due to its lack of a lifeguard and poor accessibility. Therefore, it makes for a great little beach for those looking for some seclusion and unspoilt sand. Just off of the Rhossili village, it’s possible to walk from Mewslade Bay to Rhossili Bay to experience the two contrasting beaches.
A medium-sized yet still secluded beach
Adjacent to our very own Oxwich Bay, Crawley Beach also has no lifeguard during the peak season which means the waters will be quiet. This beach is accessible through Crawley wood, making it a fantastic varied dog walk.
Pobbles Bay beach
Another snug beach closed-off by cliffs
This small beach is cornered by cliffs and has less accessibility giving it seclusion from busy holidaymakers. A walk to the top of the cliffs offers a fantastic view of our neighbouring bays and the interesting rock formations of the Three Cliffs bay.
How couldn’t we mention our local beach?
The Oxwich Bay is, of course, the beach that our hotel overlooks. With a fantastic panoramic view of the coastline, this 2.5 mile sandy beach is fantastic for families, holidaymakers and couples. Not only is the beach suitable for water sports but it is home to Oxwich Watersports; an equipment hire and training centre. Most importantly, it is dog friendly; however it is recommended to keep dogs on a lead when children are around.
