Tip for planning a wedding

Our Top Tips for Planning Your Wedding

From booking your suppliers to setting out your table plans, there's a lot that goes in to planning your special day...

Our Wedding Coordinators share their top tips to make planning your wedding as stress-free as possible.

Ask lots of questions

Whether it’s your venue, Wedding Coordinator, or your suppliers, never be afraid to ask lots of questions. Checking things like timings, terms & conditions, or exactly what’s included in a price or package takes seconds, but will ensure everything is covered. This is especially true if you want something bespoke – we’ll always do our very best to make something possible for a wedding couple – so it’s always worth asking!

For example, did you know that you can request additional appointments after your first viewing, if you want to show friends or family the venue, or even just to see it again yourself?

Download the iVow Wedding Planner App

Whether you’re at the early stages of planning or are in full on countdown mode, the iVow app is a handy tool that allows you to keep all aspects of your wedding in one place. Make to-do lists, pin ideas, manage your budget and more, all from within the app.

You can also use the app to interact with your suppliers, including us as your wedding venue, to gather inspiration and manage tasks such as your table plans.

Get Pinspired

Pinterest is a great resource for gathering inspiration on all aspects of your wedding, from hair and make-up to your table centrepieces. In the early stages of planning, gather photos or colour palettes that you like, and show these to your Wedding Coordinator, so they have a good idea of what you want.

We also provide all of our wedding couples with a hand-picked list of trusted suppliers that we have worked with in the past. This can provide a great starting point from which to gather inspiration, and takes the some of the stress out of searching yourself!

Spreadsheet your menu options

Organising your wedding breakfast can seem like an overwhelming task, so we recommend creating a spreadsheet, on which you keep an up-to-date list of guest names, and whether or not you have received their food choices.

You can then organise these by table number, and add notes such as dietary needs, allergies, high chair requirements etc.

Make a photograph list

The photos taken on your wedding day will be treasured forever, so it’s important to make sure you get all of the shots you would like.

As well as giving your photographer a photo list, you should also keep a copy handy on the day and nominate someone to take charge of overseeing – this is a great task for the best man or one of the groomsmen!

This will help to prevent guests wandering off, or having to wait around (especially if it’s cold) and will allow you and your guests extra time to enjoy drinks or any entertainment you have booked.

Have your hair and make-up done first

This may seem like a minor thing, but it can be one of the most common reasons a bride is late to her own wedding!

On the morning of your wedding, have your hair and make-up done before everyone else. This will allow for any last-minute changes or touch-ups and will mean you’re not rushing into your dress and out of the door!

“Emma and everyone else from the weddings team were amazing – nothing was too much trouble for Emma to help with. During the planning, Emma answered my many questions, and helped find solutions for fussy eaters among other things! Even on the day Emma helped by running around to get things from the my room that were forgotten but needed at the reception. Which is going above and beyond…” – Facebook
